Where to solo travel? If you’re thinking of Italy, SALERNO is the answer

Choosing where to solo travel is never an easy step, especially for women. For the solo beginners, and for those traveling alone for the first time, it is crucial to choose a safe destination that makes this type of life-changing experience the best one. In this article, I talk about Salerno: the answer to anyone wondering about where to solo travel in Italy.

Traveling alone is an experience to try at least once in a lifetime. It allows you to know yourself profoundly and is good for the soul. Other than that, feeling wholly responsible for oneself inevitably makes one discover how capable and strong one is to be able to face anything in life.

However, the idea of traveling alone is something that frightens. Anyone who has already done it, or is thinking of doing it, knows what it feels like. These feelings cause anyone who wants to travel always to try to find a company to visit a place, most of the time, setting aside our desires. In fact, we end up visiting sites proposed by others in order not to be alone.

Traveling with a group of friends is undoubtedly one of the best choices you can make, but there are times when everyone feels the need to follow their own desires and needs. In these cases, fear should not be one of the reasons for giving up. If you want to visit a place and you cannot find the right company, or if you feel the need to travel with your own, all you have to do is start organizing your solo trip.

Why SALERNO as a destination for your solo trip?

Choosing the destination is the most challenging part when you start planning your solo trip. When we imagine ourselves in a place we don’t know, fear blocks us and makes us think, “maybe traveling alone is not for me.” The best way to overcome your fears is the courage to face them, yes, but getting informed and knowing your destination certainly helps more. For this reason, I will tell you something more about Salerno as a destination for your solo trip, so that you can know it and choose it as your destination.

salerno

Salerno is a city located in Southern Italy, very close to the Amalfi Coast. It could be said that the Amalfi Coast starts right here. Currently, Salerno is not yet well known. However, it could be the ideal city where to stay for all those who wish to visit Amalfi, Positano, Capri, and in general, the Amalfi Coast without spending a fortune.

I  have already talked about 5 of all the good reasons to visit Salerno in this article: Holidays in SALERNO: 5 good reasons to choose this destination

As for solo travel, all the good reasons to visit Salerno are added to the fact that Salerno is a safe city. It is neither a metropolis where you feel invisible nor a small town where you feel alone.

Starting from the identification of the accommodation, you must know that in Salerno, there are many options to choose from. For a person traveling alone, my advice is to arrange accommodation in a house instead of a hotel. Salerno is full of hosts who love hosting people from all over the world and making them feel at home. After identifying the accommodation and having contacted your future host, your fear will already begin to fade. This is because you will have a point of reference in your next destination. The choice of accommodation represents a fundamental choice.  Having a safe and cozy home to come back after a day exploring new places and meeting new people is the best part of the day.

Salerno, apart from being a welcoming city, offers diversified experiences. It is possible to make many local visits (also by public transports), find local artisans’ boutiques, an infinite number of beaches, and places of cultural interest. You can book boat tours on the Amalfi Coast, and the more sporty and adventurous ones can hike in some of the most famous paths, such as the Path of the Gods, for example.

If you believe that Salerno could be the ideal destination for your solo trip, you can contact me on Whatsapp! I will help you find the accommodation that is right for you and put you in contact directly with the owners. You will already have two points of reference in this new adventure “alone.” What is more, once I know the type of person you are and what you like, I can certainly recommend the experiences that will make your trip truly unique.

Among all the activities and places to visit, the time to be alone will be very little! But the sense of being alone, of traveling alone, most of the time, is that of living wholly new and unforgettable experiences to share with new people.

  1. This was a great read! Roberta is so knowledgeable about the area. My wife and I visited Salerno a couple of years ago and Roberta was our unofficial travel guide. She gave us an all inclusive list on places to eat, travel and relax during our stay. Please take the time out to see what this great city has to offer.

  2. Roberta is absolutely right in what she writes: Salerno is a beautiful small town, safe (I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable as a woman travelling alone!) and has many things to offer, so you don’t have time to feel alone.
Roberta helped me with lots of helpful tips, sightseeing, gave me contacts for local sightseeing and was always available, on top of her job. Even through her presence, albeit digital, you don’t feel alone. Do a lot, use her offers, trust her and enjoy your time here. There is so much to see and do. You will love travelling alone.
Make guided tours, look for activities,.. this might help you too.

    Grazie mille, Roberta ❤️

  3. I am just so happy that I found Roberta’s blog and contacted her! She immediately sent me lists and interactive maps that were so helpful! She is such a lovely person. Also every time I asked for something she always knew what I was looking for and recommended me the most beautiful places off the touristic sites. I really enjoyed the stay in Salerno and Roberta is also one of the reasons why! 🙂

    • My dear Annika thank you so much for these words!

  4. I would like to thank Roberta for all of the information and tips she had provided for my trip to the Amalfi Coast. I fully agreed with Roberta in her assessment about Salerno. I stayed in this beautiful city for four days and from Salerno I visited different towns in the Amalfi Coast. I believe Salerno is an underrated city. It’s a city located on the Mediterranean, full of history, nice people, good restaurants, and a perfect location right where the Amalfi Coast starts.

Grazie mille Roberta! I’m glad that I decided to visit Salerno based on your great tips!

    Fernando
