WINE TOUR on the Amalfi Coast and Salerno | Which is the best for you?

The Amalfi Coast is one of the most famous italian destinations for its beaches, breathtaking views, and picturesque villages. But it is not only this, in fact, it is also home to some of the best wines in Italy. Read on to learn more about wine tours in the Amalfi Coast and Salerno!

The wineries and the heroic vineyards of the Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast up to Salerno is home to many wineries and vineyards. In fact, the local inhabitants, in addition to the cultivation of lemon terraces, have been able to allocate some areas also to the cultivation of native vineyards. This is how, in some of the most panoramic and inaccessible views of the Amalfi Coast, it is now possible to walk through “heroic” vineyards delimited by dry stone walls, while admiring the immense sea in front of you.

The vineyards of the Amalfi Coast are called “heroic” because, as for the cultivation of lemons, they require enormous physical efforts from local winemakers for their cultivation. Continuous ascents and descents, steps, and an impervious terrain make the work tiring and full of difficulties, which is however relieved by the caresses of the sea breeze.

The numerous wineries and farms, located along the Amalfi Coast, from Salerno to Positano and Sorrento, organize food and wine tours with tastings of local gastronomic specialties.

Not only wine tasting and tastings of typical products

The wineries on the Amalfi Coast and Salerno offer an experience not to be missed by any wine lover and beyond. The area, rich in unique and high-quality wines that come from different types of grapes, is rich in vineyards that climb on the rocks overlooking the sea. Vineyards of intense green color are exposed to the marine currents rich in iodine. Lots of lands was stolen from the rock and transformed into masterpieces of nature by local winemakers, who will tell you the story of noble wines rich in history.

In addition to strolling through the panoramic vineyards and discovering the grape-making process, you can taste the wines with local products in different ways: a lunch in the vineyard, an aperitif in the vineyard, or a picnic in the vineyards, all with panoramic views of the sea. In addition, many farms also organize cooking classes where you can prepare lunch with your own hands!

Very often, moreover, the vineyards border the terraces of lemons. This means that you can walk first through the vine shoots and then under the lemon trees. Some companies organize real Lemon tours to discover the Sfusato Amalfitano (I talk about it here). For nature lovers it is truly a unique experience

What is the best time for a wine tour on the Amalfi Coast?

Let’s start with the assumption that it is always the best time for a wine tour on the Amalfi Coast! Despite this, considering the life cycle of the vine, it can be said that the spring and autumn periods are definitely the most evocative. To be honest, these are, in my opinion, also the best times to visit the Amalfi Coast without stress and with favorable temperatures.

In spring, you can admire the flowering of the vegetation until ripening in summer and the subsequent harvest. In autumn, on the other hand, the colors of the autumn leaves will make the biggest spectacle! In addition, during springtime, from April until the harvest, the lemon trees will be in their period of maximum splendor and will give an unparalleled show!

What are you waiting for to immerse yourself in nature and live an unforgettable experience with a wine tour among the vineyards of the Amalfi Coast?
